Sugarcane, which is of the family Poaceae, primarily cultivated for its juice from which sugar is processed. Most of the world’s sugarcane is grown in subtropical and tropical areas. Sugarcane has a thick, rudder like stem which is clearly divided into nodes and internodes. It’s sap contains mildly sweet liquid and is very responsive to added flavors such a mint or ginger. By itself, it merely tastes like slightly sugared water.
