The name arises from the fine, hair-like fuzz that covers the green skin of the cylindrical squash, which resembles a zucchini with fuzz. Fuzzy Squash has a thick skin covered in small white hairs and is edible but the hairs should be removed, most people peel the skin away. The squash has a mild flavor.
